If you know Jalie Patterns, this is what you’ve been waiting for – the release of the spring pattern line! I agonized over which patterns to make for my promotion and decided on Bianca, Genevieve, and Zoe.
Starting with Bianca, I knew this silhouette would look really cute on Arden with the optional obi-style belt. There are two lengths – shirt and dress, and with or without cap sleeves for each. Arden chose the sleeveless dress and didn’t want the patch pockets.
As is the case with most Jalie patterns, the size range goes from 2 children’s to 24 women’s. Arden measures a size 9, or M for Jalie sizing. Sometimes I’ll lengthen since she’s on the tall side, but I didn’t on this.
We chose this double gauze that I’ve had in my stash for a while. I wasn’t sure how well it would work for the facing and bias facings, but it really worked just fine. It will be such a light and soft dress for warm weather that is quickly approaching.
The belt was screaming for some really special fabric, and what could be more special than a touch of Liberty? Dave picked this up for Arden when he was in London last year and it was perfect for this cute little belt.
Onward to Genevieve – with a touch of Michelle thrown in for fun!! Hadley loves a good skirt so I made this one for her.
Genevieve has two length options – below the knee or midi. There’s an optional button front, but Hadley chose the closed front. The little pouch is included in the pattern and it’s so clever! There’s a little loop on the back of the skirt to keep the waist tie in place (and so she knows which side is the back). Also optional inseam pockets, which I of course added because a girl needs all the pockets she can get!
Again, sizes 2 through 24. I can’t remember for sure, but I think this is also an M. I lengthened about 2″ because Hadley is definitely tall. I used Robert Kaufman Carolina gingham which has a heavier hand than some of the other Genevieve’s I saw made, but I like the crispness of it and Hadley likes it as well.
That little pouch is just perfection! I used little remnants of ikat from a tunic I made myself. Hadley has a penchant for collecting rocks and acorns wherever we go, so I know this will get used a lot!
Of course I had to get pictures of the girls together while they were all dolled up. Of course there was a little jostling so they could be close but not too close.
Now on to Zoe! Zoe is a one-piece rashguard. Sizes from children’s 2 to women’s 24. There are optional bra cup pockets for the women’s range.
With the long sleeves, it will be so nice when we go swimming to not have to spend extra time to slather sunscreen all over.
I am so not ready for her to be growing up! She’s 11 now and it feels like the teen years are screaming closer every day.
The fit is really great – good coverage and the neckline is high, but not uncomfortably so. Arden doesn’t like things near her neck so she would definitely let me know if it bothered her.
The swim fabrics were from my stash. I only had a half yard of each, but with some careful planning I was able to get everything out of it!
Be sure to pick up these great Jalie patterns, I know they’re going to become your new favorites, just like they are for us! As always, there’s a 20% discount when you buy 3 or more digital patterns. Besides Bianca, Genevieve, and Zoe there are ten other great new patterns.
