Hey June June Lucerne Blouse

It’s June and we now enter the season where an abundance of Hey June makes are found – one of my favorite designers!

This post is also about the fabric, which I received for promotion from Sly Fox Fabrics as part of their promo team. It’s a really soft and drapey rayon challis in navy and ivory with eagles and arrows in the design.

When I receive fabrics to promote I spend quite a bit of time deciding which type of garment and then pattern will best show off the fabric’s qualities. I had two yards to play with and it’s June so the choice became apparent pretty quickly – Hey June’s Lucerne Blouse *affiliate link. It’s written for woven fabrics like rayon challis and the cute sleeve ties on View A would allow me to play with the direction of the fabric.

I made a size 18 based on my 42″ overbust and 44″ full bust. I added 1″ at the lengthen/shorten line for my 5’8″ height. Next time I make this I’ll slash and spread for a full bicep adjustment as this is just a hair snug through the upper arm. I definitely have full upper arms so I don’t fault the pattern for this need.

I really liked how this fabric has distinct vertical elements in the arrows and the diamonds to follow for cutting. Challis is notoriously shifty for cutting, but by following these guidelines I was able to keep the alignment I wanted.

Did I say already how much I like the sleeve ties? They add a really nice design element, as well as an easy way to adjust the sleeve if needed, and also a quick finish to the sleeve hem. In this soft rayon challis they feel fun and playful as they brush my arms when I move.
