Yesterday I shared the very snuggly Yoko-as-a-blanket tops I made my daughters. Today I’m sharing my Jalie Yoko.
Mine is much closer to the pattern as written. The only change I made was to lengthen the bodice by about 2.5″ to cover my @ss more completely. The measurements in the pattern include a shoulder to hem length, so I just let my tape measure drop from my shoulder and saw that I needed just a little more to fully cover for wearing with leggings.
The fabrics I used were a chunky rib knit I got in a destash (originally from Purpleseamstress), and for the roll neck a rayon Spandex from Raspberry Creek Fabrics that matched well.
Sewing only one top instead of four went ever so much faster! I had this cut already, but sewing I whipped out in less than an hour while my kids were eating dinner and I hemmed while Daddy and Hadley played a game of checkers.
Being large chested, I do have to watch that things don’t flare out even more from my bust. The straight sides and dropped shoulder help things skim straight down, but with ample ease. This really would be very easy to estimate someone’s approximate size for gifting.
These photos were taken later in the same day as the girls’ Yokos. We headed up to their school for some bike and scooter time and I had the girls take turns as photographer. There were plenty of unfocused or off-center shots, but with some straightening and creative cropping I had plenty from which to choose. I certainly prefer working with my pint-sized photogs to using a tripod and remote out in public!
Remember, Yoko is free so pick up your copy today!
