Mini Ogden Cami

Recently I volunteered to test the Mini Ogden Cami by Kelli of True Bias.  The timing worked out that I was on vacation in Idaho during the testing timeframe.  I could have bowed out, but since my Mother-in-law is a quilter I just picked up some fabric and notions at the Jo-Ann’s near them and sewed it up on her vintage Bernina.

I’m glad this was such a simple pattern, as I swapped my rotary cutter and mat with pattern weights for the Home Ec version of pinning the pattern to the fabric and cutting with fabric shears.  I basted the hem for fit pictures for Kelli and then let it out at home so I could serge the side seams and hem it permanently.

The final pattern has the neckline 1/4″ higher and the straps 1″ shorter as well as the elastic a little shorter. The testing version fit Arden quite well I think, but she does have straighter, broader shoulders than a lot of kids.  These photos are after the top had been washed so it may have shrunk slightly as I didn’t pre-wash the fabric like I normally would have.

Arden’s favorite pose!  I like how simple and easy the top is.  It’s similar in many ways to my Satya Romper bodice, especially the swing top version I made.  I held off letting Arden wear this once we were back home until I could get photos.  (I’m sure I’m not the only sewing blogger who does this – do you?)  So when it was going to be 90 degrees on a recent school day I brought my camera along for school lineup in the parking lot to snap a few.

Arden in her full gym-day glory!  She has bandaids all over her legs to help keep her from scratching mosquito bites.  Pick up your Mini Ogden Cami pattern at True Bias – and get the women’s Ogden Cami for yourself while you’re at it!  I’ve been seeing loads of dress hacks from this pattern, so it’s a super versatile pattern.
