Now that things have calmed a bit around here from getting the Satya Pants released, it’s time to talk about the other pattern I released.  I contributed the Calla Lily Crop Top* to One Thimble Issue 12*.
First let’s chat about One Thimble. Â It’s a sewing e-magazine, so very similar to a physical sewing magazine you might pick up at your local fabric shop, but this one is in digital format. Â It contains 10 sewing patterns, and many tutorial and great articles.
The sewing patterns included are:
- #111 Dress by Thread Faction
- Oswald, Pond and Williams Bow Ties by Paraplu
- Cozumel Shirt by Winter Wear Designs
- Calla Lily Crop Top by Jennuine Design (hey that’s me!)
- Brook Blossom Skirt by Orange Daisy Patterns
- Girl’s Brook Blossom Skirt by Orange Daisy Patterns
- Darling Daisy Bag by Molly and Mama
- Melbourne Romper by Jilly Atlanta
- Azure Party Dress by Ainslee Fox Boutique Patterns
- Flutterby Kite by Molly and Mama
I am going to try to sew as many of the patterns in the issue as I am able. Â I already have two adorable #111 dresses finished and just need to photograph, and I have fabrics and pattern ready for an epic Azure Party Dress.
The Calla Lily Crop Top is for girls’ sizes 2T to 12 years. Â It features a waist-skimming high-low hem with a button closure in the back which can be made as a visible or hidden placket. Â Fully lined, it can be sleeveless or with shaped cap sleeves. Â A cute little design element are pleats or gathers at the front shoulder, or you can make a plain top. Â It can even be made reversible!
Here’s a fun little slideshow with some of the tester versions.
It’s been a great experience contributing to One Thimble. Â Jen is supremely easy to work with and the process for publishing appears to be well-oiled and professional. Â The photos by Poetic Light Photography are just stunning! Â I want to replicate this top for the girls – I know they’d love it, especially if I added lace trim to the hem, which is an option in the pattern.
I highly recommend picking up Issue 12 and any of the prior issues. Â 25 AUD converts to about $19.25/divided by ten patterns and you’ve got a bargain at $2/pattern. Â And that’s not even factoring in the articles and tutorials that are included. Â So hop on over and pick up your copy*!
