Are you sewing along for Kids Clothes Week this season? Â The theme is “disguise”, which of course plays well into timing for Halloween preparation.
I was all set to make a pair of princess costumes, but then Arden started brainstorming different costumes, and somehow we got around to gnomes. Â I’ve gathered patterns and fabrics now so I’m sticking to it.
First up is the iconic gnome hat. Â Lucky for me, Danielle Wilson just released a pdf pattern for such a hat, the Happy Gnome & Elf Hat, available on Etsy or her shop, and is currently offered for free in her shop.
The pattern is very straightforward, and in no time at all I had two bright pink gnome hats ready to try on my two models.
I think they’re looking quite gnome-ish already, aren’t they?  Tomorrow I hope to begin working on the dresses, which will be with a pattern from Carefree Clothes for Girls *affiliate link.  I’ve had this book for a while and when I decided on the gnome pattern I headed down to my studio to see what I had that would work.  After I found the pattern I thought would work well I was showing Arden the gnome costume Danielle had made her daughter and discovered I had landed on the exact pattern she had used.  Subliminal or not, I think it’s a fun coincidence!
I’m offering a discount to coincide with Kids Clothes Week and Halloween sewing. Â Use the code DISGUISE in my shop to take 20% off. Â I’ve adjusted the points and rewards so you’ll earn full points towards your next purchase.
