Moving away from the True Bias portion of my Momiform Capsule Wardrobe, today is all about the Boyfriend Cardigan by Love Notions.
This was my first time using a Love Notions pattern, and I was not disappointed.  Tami is a fellow Pattern Workshop (*affiliate link) student so I’ve been watching from the sidelines.  I knew she had a really cool way of putting a clickable table of contents along the sides of her patterns and that she was publishing patterns faster than you could say “Love Notions” – I think she’s on like number 34 with the recent release of the Laundry Day Tee that broke the internet.  I picked that one up too since it was exactly the shape I was hoping to make for myself.
This pattern has layers and no-trim pages.  I’m still on the fence about the trimless patterns.  For me, I feel like quickly trimming off two sides with my rotary and a clear ruler is just as fast and feels more accurate to match the pages up.  I stack a whole row of pages and trim them at the same time (just watch your fingers).
I made the hooded option, and used a great heavier knit with metallic dots from Jo-Ann Fabrics. Â The sizing was spot on – this is the XL and my favorite feature is the pockets (or should that say “features are”?) and the way the pattern piece is angled out at the top so they slouch open. Â Perfect for sliding your hands into or just plopping your phone inside.
This pattern has a kid’s version and I bundled up and got that as well. Â I asked Arden if she wanted a matching cardigan, but I’m getting the feeling she doesn’t want to play twinsies with me.
