The Moto Jacket pattern is here!
It seems that no matter what I end up feeling rushed to release at the end and there was one set of tester photos that didn’t make it into the final pattern. Â Aren’t these photos taken by Monica M just lovely? Â Trust me, they’ll be in listing photos and if I ever need to update the pattern itself I’ll be sure to get one in there when I do.So let’s talk about the pattern: Â It’s for girls OR boys sized 2T to 12Y. Â And when I say for girls or boys, I kept in mind the right-over-left or left-over-right orientation and made sure to give instructions for getting the orientation the way you want.
I also have dimensions and instructions for shortening a zipper to the correct length. Â I’m also going to have a video for this and for sewing the welt pockets. Â For real, neither thing is that difficult! Â They just take a little patience and accuracy.
I’ll be sharing the version I’m making with the awesome laminated leather I received from Leather Hide Store. Â It has this great houndstooth pattern that looks like it’s embossed. Â I have been waiting to be able to use it as the example in my videos and things just have been a little crazy, or the weather has been too bad to film. Â Fingers crossed I can get them filmed and edited very soon!
Lest you think you have to use leather I wanted to show you one of the tester versions. Â Carin made this one using lightweight board short fabric and netting to make a Moto Jacket lightweight enough to go fishing. Â There have been versions using denim, home decor fabric, and all manner of refashioned materials.
I’m also putting together a pattern tour and maybe some more fun and games for July 21 – 25.  In the meantime, enjoy a release discount of 20% with the code MOTORELEASE in my shop through June 30.  It’s good on all my patterns with the exception of the Haven Acres Mini Collection Bundle – you can still buy each of the patterns in the bundle and would get an additional 5% off over the bundle pricing.
THis is a great looking pattern Jenn! Very cool. I love the off center zipper. And, it looks cute for boys or girl. Score!
Thanks so much Virginia! It’s been a long time coming, but I’m so happy to have it released!
I would to be in on the pattern tour~ this jacket looks freakin’ awesome (and I don’t say that often!)!
I really like this pattern, especially in the fabrics you’ve chosen for the girl. I can imagine it is so many different types of fabric.
I can’t take credit for the fabrics on this adorable model – this was one of my lovely testers’ versions. Isn’t it great?
