I am on fire this Kids Clothes Week season! {pats self on back}
Yup, I printed, cut, sewed, AND photographed these all today. Â Mind you, they’re just leggings, and it’s a pattern with which I’m intimately familiar – the basic version of my Dressage Leggings.
But if you look closely, these have a fun twist! Â Ruching along the outside of each leg. Â This is a fun side project that has been loosely in the works for almost a year.
Way back during testing of the LOL Swing Top, Kim of Kimmie Sew Crazy was a tester and made these adorable ruched capri leggings to go along with one of her test tops.  Then a little while ago after the Dressage Leggings were published, Kim asked if I wanted to try to make a tutorial for the ruched leggings.  I said “sure thing” and we’ve been collaborating on just that.
The tutorial can work on any leggings, and can even work right along with the paneled dressage style of my pattern. Â It will be a free download in my pattern shop and Craftsy; hopefully available in the next few days. Â The addition of the cuffs lets the legs be ruched and still have the length, or you can pull them up tighter for a capris style.
I worked really hard to match up the lines in this pair I made out of Art Gallery knit.  This is from April Rhode’s line last year and I’ve been meaning to make a pair of leggings from it since I first had it.  It’s probably not the best choice to highlight the ruched design, but Arden and I love them regardless!
Those are fantastc! Well done ladies I can’t wait to get a copy of this!
Ohhhh I love this version!!! Great fabric choice and amazing job on matching the print. :)!!!
I think the fabric looks great with the ruching, especially with the matching – that’s some real work, and the end result was worth the extra effort. I’m looking forward to your ruched legging tutorial 🙂
Love this version – the ruching, the fabric ♡
I love the ruching!! I can’t wait to see the tutorial. Your pattern matching is amazing too!
