One of these times for Kids Clothes Week I’ll have an entire plan of action, with patterns printed and fabrics selected and prepped.
The reality is that mostly I get an urge to make a particular pattern, dig through my fabrics to see what will work and I dash it off. Â That’s what happened with this adorable Cousu Top by Sew Straight Pattern Co.
This is the top version of the pattern; there’s also a dress option, as well as instructions for band or no band at the bottom. Â This is totally a quick and enjoyable sew – I cut and sewed this up last night while Laser groaned and snored because I was disturbing his beauty sleep. Â It’s got one of my favorite techniques in it – the fully lined bodice with no closures that I made the video for my Verona Dress. Â Terri linked to my video in her pattern with my permission – another example of how many designers work together or collaborate.
The fabric is an unknown knit I bought in a destash. Â It’s impossible to see in the photos, but it’s a cute scatter of black pin dots, pale pink hearts, and white puffy hearts. Â PUFFY HEARTS. Â Of course she loves it! Â Except that she asked me to make it a dress. Â I totally had enough fabric to make a dress, but she needs tops more than dresses at this point. Â I paired it with one of her Dressage Leggings – these have never been formally blogged because she snipped a hole in one leg during a paper cutting session (don’t get me started on that confetti mess!) and I haven’t taken the time to mend it.
The Cousu Top is half off through May 4, no discount code needed. Â The Cousu collection is also reduced for the same period. Â Go grab your copy of this great versatile pattern!
