You know I love me a good Kids Clothes Week, and this Spring is no exception! Â I love the introduction of themes over the last year, and this season’s theme of Wild Things is so amazing! Â I just couldn’t resist a little (or big) project to fit the theme…
Let’s begin with the fabric, right?  This is a panel from Bambiblauw, a Belgian manufacturer.  They have lots of amazing fabrics with several of these photo realistic animals (maybe another one is in the works for more KCW sewing?) as well as landscapes, florals and abstracts.  I think? they’re working on distribution outside of Belgium and The Netherlands, but I don’t think they’re there just yet.  My friend An of Straight Grain graciously posted these fabrics to me.
One half of the panel has the giraffe head, and the other half goes to this small repeat with some of the scattered triangles tossed in sporadically.
The pattern is a mashup of my Haven Acres Blouse, lengthened to dress length using an a-line dress pattern from the Japanese pattern book I recently bought, Girls Style Book. I omitted the sleeves and bound the raw edges in bias.  The bias is from the Sun Print line from Alison Glass for Andover Fabrics.
I had grand plans to get some great modeled shots, but the weather was very inconsiderate today, raining in a steady downpour. Â That also put a damper on our spring break plans, but we’ll get going tomorrow!
COOL, way cool– the fabric featuring a giraffe’s long neck & head “front and center” on a young girl’s sundress! Certainly UNIQUE & I love the pattern, simple and classic. Thanks for sharing! Sarah in Minneapolis

I’ve been wondering what the Haven Acres Blouse would look like as a dress and the answer is: adorable! I love that giraffe fabric.
