As I was preparing to get the LOL Swing Top pattern ready for testing, I decided to give a knit version a try.
And lookie there! Â It worked beautifully! Â If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve already seen this, but I figured I should get something a little better than cell phone pics. Â Yesterday I took the girls to their favorite playground and snapped some shots while they ran around.
By using knit and ribbing to finish the edges, the single button on the shoulder can be eliminated. Â But it still has all the fun swing in the back!
The front neckline on this prototype is a little wonky – I was trying to see if I could gather there by just pulling the ribbing extra tight. Â It didn’t work the way I hoped, so the pattern shows to gather just the same as for the woven version.
Testing is going swimmingly – except only for the vast variability of ribbing/rib knit for finishing the edges. Â At this point I’ve got two tables for dimensions and there will be an entire section for testing the stretch and recovery of the ribbing. Â And there will still be a caveat that adjustments may be needed. Â Totally worth it to be able to use both types of materials!
I’m planning to release the week of July 20, and so far everything seems to be on track!
