Applejack: DIY Elf on the Shelf

I’ve been watching all the Elf on the Shelf antics over the last couple of years, and this year I decided to dip my toe into the waters.

I went the DIY version, using my adapted pattern of the Black Apple Doll you might remember from the 15 16 dancing dollies I made for Arden’s dance recital last spring.  I had pulled some fabrics and felt from my stash over Thanksgiving, but it didn’t happen in time.  Last night I decided I better get to work or it’s going to be too late to start.

My first setup is a little weak with the elf sitting with a bowl of mini marshmallows like popcorn and theatre tickets.  Arden and I are going to see the Moscow Ballet production of The Great Russian Nutcracker.  I explained to the girls how the whole elf thing works and Arden named her Applejack.  I think somebody has been watching a little too much My Little Pony lately.  Netflicks…

Any fun suggestions for antics?  I don’t want to go too much into the “naughty elf” business, just fun silliness.  I think Applejack is going to sew herself a little elf hat and maybe a skirt since I ran out of steam getting this far.
