Arden’s Musings

I’ve shared Arden’s more interesting thoughts on life previously and decided this most recent conversation needed to be memorialized.  She is most definitely a creative and imaginative child, and she also possesses a unique sense of humor.

Warning: the conversation captured below involves behinds and bodily functions…

The other morning I was helping Arden get dressed for daycare and she tooted.  I asked if she did and she answered (all in a very deadpan delivery):

“Yes, I farted.  My butt talks to me, but I don’t understand what it’s saying”

As if that wasn’t a curious enough response, she carried it further when we were back home later that evening.  I suggested that she could write a butt to English translation and she responded:

“Daddy understands what butts say.”

So I’m not sure how Dave got to be the tushy translator of the family, maybe it’s because he speaks some French and reads a couple of French language books to the girls?

In other news, I’ve been pseudo-participating in Kids Clothes Weeks as I’m getting the girls’ Halloween costumes ready.  Arden will be Tinkerbell with a focus on the cold-weather wear from The Secret of the Wings and Hadley is going as Cheese mouse.  The mouse is nearly complete, I just need to fit the hat before I sew it all together.  Tinkerbell has a coat and that’s it so far.  I had a bodice but I had to scrap it and start over.  Now I’m rethinking my plan and trying to decide just how authentic I have to be to keep Arden happy…

Man, I love kids’ comment stories. This one is hilarious – especially because she’s so serious about what she’s saying! Glad you captured it before it’s forgotten. 🙂
