Here’s Arden’s room waiting patiently; ever so patiently for me to get going on this build already!
As I’ve begun this project my mind keeps going to the similarities and differences between building with wood, saws, nails, hammer, and screws and what I normally do – create with fabric, scissors, rulers, thread, and sewing. As an accountant I thought a little table might be a good way to compare and contrast:
I reserve the right to add to this list as my project continues.
Here’s a little progress pic with Arden checking out the fit of what will become the bottom cabinet for the bookcase. I think I spy a future secret hidey-hole!
I used PureBond plywood and I am really excited about this product. We’re tree huggers in this household so the fact that it’s formaldehyde-free, created with soy-based assembly technology, and Columbia Forest Products practices sustainable forestry really floats my boat. End commercial, but I like this stuff; I really do!
I also have the top cabinet completed including holes for shelf pins to make the bottom two shelves adjustable. This was my woo-hoo phone pic to Sandra showing how far I had gotten, so excuse the poor quality photo.
I’ve been doing most of my building at night which does not lend itself to spectacular action shots. Keep watching for more update posts as I continue my build. Next I’m going to be priming and painting the boxes and the backing board and then comes squaring up!
Oooh…I can’t wait to see when it is done. Who is the marathon runner? I just signed up for a 30K…longest distance I’ll ever have run, but a marathon is my long term goal!
We have both run marathons in the past and Dave has been running some halves this year. I hope to get back to it eventually but I’ve had Morton’s Neuroma (and surgery to remove one) in my feet so I’m on the bench for now.
Good luck in your 30k – I’ve always said anyone (who is crazy enough to want to) can run a marathon, it just takes time and dedication (and a little luck ti remain injury free).
LOL I Love your comparison chart! So funny!
Ha ha, love the table. It sounds like you’ve got a great plan!
