It was a total no-brainer when Shannon sent out the call for pattern testers. I HAD to test this pattern! The combination of the pullover bodice, squared neckline and those ENORMOUS POCKETS is a recipe for ah-dore-ible! I was so excited to be chosen to test along with a bunch of other talented ladies.
This is the final version which is now for released for sale! I sewed a total of four dresses since I made two for each Arden and Hadley. I’ll share the other versions in another post, but I wanted to highlight this one for the opening show.
The fabric is Robyn Randolph Home Essentials Ovals in Pink from Pink Castle Fabrics. I can’t say enough about how lovely this fabric is. It’s so dreamy and soft.
I played with the direction of the print; cutting the bodice and pockets across the grain so the ovals run horizontally and the skirt with the grain. I also added mini pom trim to the bottom of the bodice at Arden’s demand. I had done this with Hadley’s second version and as soon as Arden saw that she said she wanted “polka dots” on her dress also. Good thing I was all practiced up after Hadley’s dress – these mini poms can be a pain to install! I’m sure if I had a cording foot it would have been a breeze.
And if pattern testing wasn’t enough fun, this view of Arden is in the pattern itself as part of a collage showing the different variations – sleeveless, short sleeved, or elbow length.
We had fun taking our photos in front of the old horse barns at our local county fairgrounds. The fair was opening the next day so there were all variety of horses around which made for the perfect far-away gaze from my two cuties!
We went back a few days later to look at all the animals and discovered that the gigantic pockets make a perfect spot to carry specialty caramel corn without spilling! I am so in love with these dresses! Go and get your Sally Dress pattern ASAP and get sewing!
Your photos are so adorable, and I absolutely love the pom pom trim! I’m working on my third version of this dress right now, and I swear they just keep getting cuter each time. It’s such a great pattern!
Oh how cute she looks!
So sweet! I’m working on my 4th Sally (with those cute sleeves!) and I’m loving the mini pom pom trim that you added…I think you’ve inspired me 🙂
I love this dress! I can’t wait to see your other versions, so fun!
That,s cute. I love the fabric and trim you chose.
