So is the awkward smile better than the angry face? Dave snapped these quickly for me instead of having to set up the tripod, so maybe it helps a little to have an actual person taking the photos. Oh, and Dave will love you forever if you ooh and aah over the nicely trimmed hedge.
Rae and her team made some adjustments to the pattern and I think they result is a very nice fit for this style. I had to do this in a hurry and decided to make myself a top instead of a dress. The yoke is an embroidered cotton sort of eyelet and the bottom is seersucker. I’m a sucker for seersucker and I’ve been eyeing that yellow cotton for months trying to convince Arden that she wants a yellow dress. No dice, so I thought I might as well use it for myself. I’ve always liked the combination of yellow with white and grey stripe, as evidenced in one of the first dresses I made for Arden.
While the fit is nicer on this version, I decided to see what happened if I added lines of shirring to the back. I haven’t had a chance to take pictures of it like that, but I am really pleased with how it turned out. Rae offered that as an option to the testers that were finding the fit a little loose, so I wonder if that might be a variation described in the pattern.

The color combo and different fabric textures is great. I love eyelet and seersucker as well. Looks like a great pattern!
