Glitter Everything with Michaels Recollections Glitter

I don’t think I’ve told you all that I’m going to SNAP! Conference this spring!  It will be my first blogging conference, and I am wriggling with excitement over it.  Something I didn’t realize came along with being a registered SNAP! attendee is the opportunity to work with great brands on advertising campaigns.  Today I get to share the great Recollections glitter at Michaels with you!

I was so surprised with the big box of goodies arrived from Michaels.  The assortment of colors and different textures of glitter was unbelievable.  There was a rainbow of colors, and a variety of extra fine, chunky, and tinsel.  They start at $3.99 and come in an assortment of sets, or individual containers.

I made two projects to show you, both using supplies I had on hand.  The first one Arden and I did together.  I took some tongue depressors and trimmed one end using kitchen shears to create graduated sticks to form a tree.  Using some cardstock from a mailing, I cut out a star shape.  Then I coated each stick with Mod Podge and set Arden loose with the chunky glitter.  The gold star is the extra fine glitter.  I had her do it in a baking pan to contain the glitter and make for easy cleanup.

Once she had glittered everything, I used hot glue to attach the pieces together.  I think I’ll add some baker’s twine and hang it from our tree.

The second project is something I should have made long ago – a Christmas card holder!  I grabbed some burlap and cut it into strips, cut a ring from cardboard, and gathered up some mini clothespins and the Recollections extra fine glitter.  I wrapped the cardboard in the burlap, securing it on the back with hot glue.  Using Mod Podge and four different colors of glitter, I covered one side of the clothespins.  Then I glued them onto the ring and tied a length of jute twine for hanging.

Now our mantel can be used for different decor, and our front door gets to be on display with all of the Christmas cards we receive!
