Today I’m participating in The Girl Creative for Diana’s Create Memories with Kids series with my PVC Playhouse & Sunshade.
This was an ambitious creation, so I’m going to be sharing a series of posts over the next few weeks with dimensions for the whole project, the construction of the frame, the different features of the tent including how to make mitered bindings for the square windows, and how I made sure the sewing construction would stand up to active play.
Go check out the rest of the great ideas for summer fun with your kids being shared as part of the series, and check back here to see the fun we’re having using this playhouse/sunshade!

It is perfection! My girls would love this! Not sure I could make it look as cute as yours!

We made just the frame so far based on your tutorial. It is awesome. When we get it all together with a cover, we will send you a picture. The PVC pipe frame was so easy to make with your instructions. Thank-you.

We made just the frame so far. It is awesome. It was so easy with your instructions. When we get a cover on it, I will send you a picture for sure. Today we have a blue sheet draped over the top and tied at the corners. Our daughter is going to be so excited when she wakes up from naptime. Thank-you.
One note for instructions: On the pipe cut list, should it say 18.5″ – 8 cuts (instead of 4)?
Good catch – thanks! I’ve updated the cut list for the frame.
Thanks for the inspiration! Our daughter Anna has a rare disease where she cannot be exposed to sunlight and other UV rays.
Anna’s aunt modified your play tent design to fit our special needs. You can see it here:
