Remember my scarflette project that Arden pulled the needles from and unraveled a bit? Well, I was able to recover it and finally – finish it!
I’m really liking it, and it matches the hat I made… for me!
Here’s how:
On straight or double pointed needles sized for yarn being used, cast on 32 stitches
Rows 1 & 5 – {K2, P2, K4, P2} repeat twice, K2
Rows 2, 4, 6 – {P2, K2, P4, K2} repeat twice, P2
Row 3 – {K2, P2, C4B, P2} repeat twice, K2
Work in pattern until piece wraps comfortably around your neck with about 5″ to spare. For my project, this was 21″.
Work until row 6, then:
Buttonhole row – {P2, K2, P2, K2, YO, K2tog, P2, K2}, P2, K4, repeat {} once
Continue in pattern until distance between first buttonhole row is about the same as the distance between the outside cables. Work until row 6, then:
Buttonhole row – {P2, K2, P2, K2, YO, K2tog, P2, K2}, P2, K4, repeat {} once
Continue in pattern another round or two, ending on row 6. Bind off all stitches.
Attach four buttons on the front side to match up to the buttonholes.

Oh my my my! I wish I had the patience to knit. I tried to make a blanket for my first baby 6 years ago. I still have it… I think it’s like 10 inches long =(

Do you have to use double pointed needles for this or can I use regular needles? Just curious as to why you chose double pointed. I’m curious because I’d like to use a larger guage then what I have in double pointed needles. Love this scarf, can’t wait to make my own!

No, you don’t have to use double pointed needles. I wasn’t thinking and wrote what I used, not what you could use. I’ll edit the post. Thanks for the proofreading!
