At the end of August, we rented a cottage on the shore of Lake Huron (that’s the eastern side of the lower peninsula for those of you not up on your Great Lakes geography). Sort of a family of three babymoon in recognition that our family will soon be undergoing some drastic changes when baby #2 arrives.
We played in the sand,
Tried (and tried and tried) to fly a kite,
Checked out the snorkeling gear,
Ate (while sitting on Daddy’s lap – A lot!),
Went to Mackinac Island – that’s the Grand Hotel in the background. Mackinac Island is between the lower and upper peninsulas and is unique in not allowing any motorized traffic (except snowmobiles during the winter). All the activity on the island is by horse, bike, or foot. We pretty much took the horsedrawn carriage tour and stuck to the downtown strip.
See? I went on this trip, too!
Checked out Arch Rock,
Colored a bit while waiting for dinner,
Smooched on Daddy,
Modeled swimsuits,
Colored some more,
Ate smores – we got rained out from doing them over the campfire outside, so I did them in the broiler and they turned out great! Arden agrees!
I knitted. A Lot. My OB approved me going on the trip, but wanted me to take it as easy as I could.
What a ham!
Lovin’ on Daddy,
Lounging in bed,
Isn’t she adorable? Notice there are no photos of me in my maternity swimsuit. Trust me, it’s quite the sight!
Arden slept on a full-size bed and did fabulous! No more worries about where she’ll sleep for future trips.
I was happy to get home to my comfy bed and my Snoogle pregnancy pillow. The cottage we rented was adorable and perfect in every way except for the incredibly hard master bed. I gave up after two nights and slept on the sofa and was much more comfortable.
It was nice to get away, but always nice to be back home. It’s like that, isn’t it? You look so forward to vacations, but at the same time you miss the routine and familiarity of home.
Beautiful family weekend! I love the swimsuit model!
All these pictures are so sweet.
Such fun pictures!! My little girl has that pink and red shirt too!! Thanks SO much for linking up!! 😉 Hope to see you again next Sunday!
