The Matinée Dress

One of the things I really wanted to accomplish was having illustrations for the tutorial steps.  The patterns I have with this feature I’ve found to feel that extra bit professional, and it also has the benefit of remaining timeless even with changes in fabric tastes.  I’ve completed illustrations for four of the tutorial steps.  I think there will be about ten total illustrations, so I’m feeling pretty good about my progress on these.

Next steps are tiling and creating the initial pdf document.  Then pre-testing to make sure the pieces print correctly and align.  Then I’ll sew some sample dresses to ensure they fit together the way they should and seem on-target for sizing.

Then it will be the testers’ turn!  I’m excited and scared about this step – thus far, I’m the only one who’s made this dress.  I’m interested to see everyone else’s versions, but all full of nerves that testers will have problems.  My goal is to have a reasonably stress-free test by having the pattern at the point I would like to see for a pattern I’m purchasing, but that remains to be seen.
