Today I listed the first two coloring pages for Jennuine Design patterns – Satya Pants and Calla Lily Crop Top (yes, it was a two-for-one deal since both patterns are in the same artwork). Â This is something I had hoped to offer for some time, but two things needed to be in place before I could do it.
First, I needed permission from the artist who creates the adorable covers for Jennuine Design. Â I had asked Candace for permission a while back, but she had just had a new baby and justifiably responding slipped off her radar for a bit. Â She’s given me the green light to modify the artwork to create coloring pages, so here we go!
Second, I needed to figure out how to create the coloring page the way I wanted it to appear.  There’s an option in the program I use to “image trace”, but that resulted in a hard black and white version of the watercolor, and I wanted to preserve the cute features and coloring of the figures.  What ended up working was doing the image trace and then removing everything except the clothing, and then laying that back over the color image.  That removed the color, shading and any graphic detail from the clothing to allow artists do as they wish with the clothing, but still keeping the look and feel of the cute watercolor children.
I’ll be working backwards through my patterns to create coloring pages for the rest. Â Download your pages from the shop and start planning. Â I’m adopting the hashtag #coloritsewit and have some fun planned for once I’ve listed all of them.
