WIWW Featuring Commuter Cowl

I haven’t previously posted a WIWW (What I Wore Wednesday) post since I don’t consider myself all that fashionable.  After two babies and recently foot surgery, I’m still not sure how to best dress my “different” body.

But since I purchases the awesome bundle of PDF patterns from this amazing sale, I whipped up a Commuter Cowl for myself and had to share!

I know I look lost or mad, but this was the best picture I took of myself – it’s not easy!  Swoanyways, the cowl was super duper quick to sew – like 15 minutes if you don’t count the little bit of hand stitching which took me longer just to thread the darn needle without good lighting than to finish.  I used part of some cotton lawn I had in my stash from good ol’ JoAnn’s – the Lisette line.  Shannon from luvinthemommyhood talks about how different fabrics will stand up better and this is definitely on the drape-y side, but it’s so soft and pretty so I “luv” it anyways!

I paired my new cowl with a button down shirt from Gap and deep V-neck shirt also from Gap.  I like how the turquoise print makes the yellow in my shirt pop – so much fun!  I think this would even work for guys if you used a “manly” fabric.

If you’d like to make your own Commuter Cowl, or any of the other patterns in the sale you’ll want to get it before the sale is over on the 11th.  I’m really hoping to share at least one more of the patterns with you – fingers crossed!

So funny, that is the EXACT face i get over and over when trying to get a picture or (me & the kids or me wearing something or just me bc I am NEVER in pictures and always taking them) … i swear it’s a look of determination. Like, if I stretch my arm out yay wide, and if I bend my finger all crooked-like, and if I pull my chin up & keep it eye level and …. crap. another squinty face. lol

Soo funny! I kept taking them and the ones where I looked at the phone/camera to see the stupid button were even worse!
