This is my entry for week four for the Project Run & Play sew along – Love is in the Air theme. I focused my design around sisterly love and made my daughters Arden and Hadley matching twirly skirts. Since they both love their new dollies, Rose and Clementine also got matching skirts.
The skirts are loosely based on Dana’s Market Skirt but I didn’t include the pockets even though that’s what originally made me fall in love with those skirts. Instead, I hand embroidered a little heart on the hem with a running stitch. I also embellished Arden’s purchased tank and each of the dolls’ skirts.
I strayed a bit from my goal of using only materials I had on hand and did purchase a half yard cut of pink check shirting material for the main part of the skirts. The white material is the remainder of a twin sheet I cut to size for a toddler bed. (Why is it that you can’t buy a flat sheet to fit a toddler mattress?)
I admit, I had waaay too much fun editing the photos for this and creating fun graphics and the collage. It’s not often I get this many pictures of the two of them together looking happy. It would be interesting to post the outtakes! These were taken at an adorable mobile home park on the island where my parents live in Florida. Many of the houses are painted fun colors so it’s like a trailer park rainbow row – so happy!
