I love a good pie, and this summer I ventured into the wonderful world of pies baked in cast iron skillets. As delicious as those are, what’s easier than a scrumptious pie without all the peeling and slicing? Mrs. Smith’s answers that question with their line of Signature Deep Dish Pies.
I was given the opportunity to sample the pies and tell you about it, so I baked up the peach pie. It filled my house with the lovely aroma of fresh fruit pie baking. I decided to add an egg white wash with sugar sprinkled on top to the crust and it turned this lovely shade of caramelized brown. I cut into the rich crust made with real butter and whole peach slices came sliding out as I put my piece on the plate. Heaven!
It came with a packet of cream cheese icing which was super yummy, but next time I might try stealing the butter fudge icing from the cherry pie to try with the peach. I still have the other great varieties to try, so I’m already planning what events I could take those to – they’re the perfect size for a large gathering.
