After having so much fun during February’s Package Pals, I signed up to do it again. Little did I know I’d be spending the entire month sewing nautical flags during every spare moment! I think I managed to pull off a pretty cool package for my April pal Jenna at 2027 – go check her out, she’s super fun and hip!
She’s working on a great gallery wall in her craft room (sooo jealous – I mean an entire room devoted to crafting! Mine is dining room/playroom/craft room and I use the kitchen table when needed), so I dug into my button jar and grabbed an embroidery hoop I had on hand to whip up a button monogram in colors that should coordinate. Us “J’s” got to stick together, right?
I used to make these little rag baskets when I was younger – yeah, I was one of the cool kids, rockin’ out a rag basket on a Friday evening! I’ve seen them popping up again, but they’re sewing the rows together. I used my old method and ripped strips of fabric and wound them around thick cording and knotted to the row below every couple of inches. It’s imperfect, but isn’t that sort of what a rag basket is all about?
This little felted knit zippered bag was one of my early knitting projects that I made. I think it’s super cute and perfect for stashing a few things to toss into your purse.
Jenna does a cool weekly post called Fingernail Friday, so I tossed in a polish in a fun peacock-y blue/green. Actually, Arden chose the color but I like her taste! I had to mimick the fingernail art pins by holding the nail polish bottle – think maybe I’m overdue for a manicure? Ugh! I never bother with my fingers and only ever get pedicures – they last so much longer!
I hope you like your package Jenna – I had so much fun perusing your blog and Pinterest boards searching for inspiration!
I got my package in the mail yesterday, and lemme tell ya, when I opened it, I got pretty darn excited! As soon as I saw the embroidery hoop, I knew you’d made it for my gallery wall, and it’s PERFECT! Now to find the perfect spot for it (I may or may not have spent a good 10 minutes walking around with it trying it in different spots!). I love the colors of the rag basket and will probably use it to store random sewing notions… it just looks like a sewing basket to me. 🙂 Tell Arden that she chose a perfect color of nail polish! I don’t have one even close to that and I just LOVE it! It was so nice getting to know you this month and thank you so much for the thoughtful package!
Oh, forgot to mention… you should get yours tomorrow. 🙂
i LOVE the monogrammed hoop art! Thank you for participating in PP 🙂
I love the button monogram too! It looks like you had a lot of fun!
The button monogram is brilliant! I love embroidery hoop art and haven’t seen one like that. I may just have to make myself one. The rest of your package is so great too!
