We introduced rice cereal on Saturday – sorry for the unedited cell phone pictures, but I haven’t had a chance to download the ones from my DSLR.
… and a little video. I thought she was going to be way more into eating than she was, but she kept thrusting her tongue out and pushing the food down her chin. I figured out the next day that I can sort of lay it on her tongue when it’s out and then most of it will go in and stay there. Oh, another new adventure!
she is so stinking cute! I wanted to share with you BLW or baby-led weaning, theres a great facebook page on it. Essentially, no spoonfeeding, you offer foods by putting them in front of the baby, if she picks it up and eats it, she is ready, if not, she isnt. She learns to listen to her body for hunger and fullness. She gains motor development by playing with the food. It really is a great way to offer solids. Check it out! Also, rice cereal, while highly marketed is junk food for babies, lots of parents are skipping rice cereal due to it being nutritionally void, hard to digest (babies dont make the enzimes to digest grains until much older), and spikes blood sugar. I really hope this doesnt come off judgy or rude, i had no idea about rice cereal until someone clued me in. I suggest WhiteOut and Baby-Led Weaning – let your babies feed themselves both on facebook.
