I’ve had the knitting completed on this sweater for a bit, but I finally added the buttons today. That still leaves blocking to do, but I figured close enough to share at this point.
This was my first go-round with fair isle knitting, and I think it turned out really well if I do say so myself! I’m not super jazzed about the way the yoke sticks up like a funnel, but I think that will improve a bit with the blocking.
The pattern is from Debbie Bliss’ Simply Baby. I used the recommended yarns – Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino. I do love Debbie’s yarns…
My Mom gave me a gigantic jar full of buttons, and these worked perfectly for this sweater. 90% of the time, I can find enough great buttons in there for a project. Thanks Mom!
I’m knitting a matching one in size 2T for Arden – here’s what I’ve got completed on that one as a comparison to the 3-6 month size I made for the new baby. I think they’ll look adorable together! I’m already picturing the photo shoot with sisters in their matching sweaters! Too, too cute!
I’ll be sharing this project with luvinthemommyhood’s Summer Sweater knit along Flickr group.
Lovely! I haven’t had the courage to try “real” Fair Isle yet, but one of these days…
This is so cute – I want one in my size.
