I have the dress part of my giveway version of the Every Occasion Dress completed, so I thought I’d tease a bit with a couple of sneek peek photos… Jennifer asked if I could use a different fabric than the original birdcage print, so I prowled her blog My Mommy Can to try to get a sense of her style and how she dresses her little girl. I decided that she tended to rich, saturated colors and tried to keep true to that aesthetic. That being said, the dress part of the Every Occasion Dress serves as a backdrop for the fun aprons, so I still needed to keep the main fabric pretty simple.
I found this Henry Glass fabric from his Summertime collection, and thought it was perfect! I serged off the raw edges and prewashed and dried it, and it came out of the dryer nearly looking like it had been pressed! I don’t think I’ve ever had that happen with a cotton before. The rest of this collection is grey, orange, robin’s egg blue, black, and lime green. I’m pretty sure I’m going to use this line for my nursery bedding and curtains since I wanted to use blue, orange and grey in there.
