Yesterday we had a pretty activity-filled day. In the morning, Arden and I went to Target to get all of our Easter supplies.
Then after nap, we “Egged” two of our neighbors! This is a fun idea similar to Boo’ing where you hide treat-filled eggs around their yard and then leave an egg carton with a fun poem explaining what’s up. I’m personally not a fan of the chain letter aspect of some of these, so I omitted the part about passing along the treat – here’s how my poem went:
Look at that! You’ve just been EGGed!
But do not be alarmed.
We came, we dropped, we ran away…
Your house, it was not harmed.
So what is this before you now?
Just an early spring surprise.
Be quick and look around your yard…
Twelve EGGs lay in disguise.
A secret friend has just dropped by
To share some spring time treats.
Days ‘til Easter aren’t much more…
Aren’t surprises sweet!
Arden had such a fun time hiding the eggs – she kept saying “Happy Easter” and “bye-bye eggs” when we were hiding them. We missed seeing one neighbor gathering her eggs but she called the next day to thank us. For the other Egging we got to watch the neighbor kids hunting them down, though there’s one by the back door that we can see from our breakfast nook that they missed!
After we Egged the neighbors, we came inside and dyed our eggs for Easter. Arden does a pretty good job of leaving the dye alone and I cover her up with a bib, so no major messes with this activity. The hardest part is to keep her from dropping the egg from great height and cracking them while splashing the dye all over!
Are you doing any fun Easter activities? Do you let your little ones dye the eggs?
