Arden loves to “cowee”, or color – a term she uses to refer to coloring with crayons, paints, or watercolors. My Mom introduced her to watercolors while visiting in Florida, and I recently continued this activity for her here at home. Rather than risking a dumped over glass of water, we just run a little water in the watercolor paint tray and let her go to town – usually mixing about six colors into a muddy brown, but she’s getting better about sticking to a smaller palette.
Another new favorite is the Aquadoodle we received as a gift for Arden’s 2nd birthday. Remarkably, she can say “aquadoodle” almost perfectly (but not color? Go figure!). She especially liked Daddy’s game of tracing body parts – Daddy laid his head down on the mat, but she promptly poked him in the eye with the little water pen! She also grabs a little refreshment during her Aquadoodle sessions, sucking the water out of the pen. I’m not sure how sanitary this practice is, but I can’t get her to stop…
