The polls are closed for this weeks Project Toddler Runway. Since Bree from Extra Ordinary Bree wasn’t able to complete a project due to power outages, none of the projects this week were going home.
My project was Orange Birdie, and this is the one I was the least confident about so far. I really like all the pieces seperately, but I think it’s a bit much all together, and it looks like some of you agreed. The birdie applique was fun and easy to do – I’m keeping that little drawing I whipped up to use again! Making a bucket hat was on my to-do list and I really like how this one turned out with the gathers.
This week’s winning project was Chelsea from Creative Momma’s Goody Two Shoes Dress. Some people were commenting that it was similar to Kelly from Sewing In No Man’s Land’s San Merino dress shown in Project Run & Play, but 1. She would have had to begin right about when that pattern was posted to have a chance of completing this in time for our deadline, and 2. I can’t imagine someone would intentionally recreate another project in a similar competition. I think it was a case of converging creativity or a similar inspiration piece. Whatever the source, it was simply adorable!
I think everyone did a great job in this challenge. I’m so glad I’m not participating because I wouldn’t know what to do with denim ๐ Loved the denim top with the cute applique.
Thanks for the shoutout to our blog! Since I’m her sister ๐ I know that Chelsea didn’t use a pattern for her dress. She used the same adult dress for inspiration and came up with her own verson of the top. I believe she used MADE’s calculations for the bottom of the dress. Anyway, thanks for sticking up for her ๐
Thanks Jenn. I didn’t even know about the comments until my sister told me! Thanks so much for your post. I appreciate it. I didn’t even know there was a pattern for her dress. Anyhow, it’s a diffrent dress. I think everyone puts so much time and energy into all they do through this competition. And it seems like any week could be anyone’s week. I can’t believe you’re already done for this week! Good job! I still don’t know for sure what I’m doing! Ahhh! Btw, great job on YOUR outfit last week. I can’t believe you made that hat! Great job! and thanks again!!
p.s. we’ve been working on the stylish blogger award! Thanks!
I LOVE this little outfit! Will there be a tute any time soon???? I’ve got fabric ready & waiting & a heap of birthday presents to sew that this would be the perfect outfit for our Aussie autumn
I’m working on a tute for the hat and top. Sadly I was a bad girl and didn’t take very many photos for this one.
