I made it much futher than I could have possibly hoped. I’m “out” this week from Project Toddler Runway – just one week before the finale. My project this week was the Every Occasion Dress:
I’m a little conflicted about being done with this – it was a really great challenge and definitely pushed me to create things that would have previously just been doodles in a sketch book. But I’m sad that this is the project to send me home – the “personal” challenge that I liked the best of all my creations and had the most confidence in going into voting. Plus, I had a really cute model who’s head I didn’t have to crop out for the first time! Isn’t my friend’s daughter Zoie just adorable! On the other hand, this has taken up an inordinate amount of time – if I was still working full time, I don’t think I would have been able to complete more than the first project. I’m also kind of over feeling judged each week and worrying all weekend how my project is doing in the voting.
This weekend it was pretty clear after a promising start that things weren’t looking like they were going my way, which was okay; because I was dealing with this beginning on Thursday afternoon:
Fevers, whining, clinging, restless sleep, and a touch of vomiting were what it was all about. We’ll be staying home tomorrow and now I’m not feeling so hot. Oh, and Dave is out of town on a business trip until Tuesday – lovely. Any badies out there – I have two large labradors, a herd of cats, and I can probably still pull off a mean roundhouse kick to the head or a flying elbow so don’t try anything!
So, auf wiedersehen to Project Toddler Runway but I’ll still be creating and posting here – I’ll probably have more to share with all my free time!
I rushed so fast to get this project done so I could use Zoie as a model that I didn’t take any photos for a tutorial. I’m planning to make another to get pictures, and I thought I would do a giveway for an Every Occasion Dress if there were enough people who would enter. Let me know if you’d want this dress and if there is interest I’ll plan on my very first giveway!
You know I’m interested girl!
I totally voted for you this week. I love the simplicity and that birdcage fabric.
I’m with Bree, count me in too! This dress is so adorable and such a unique idea – I absolutely love it. This was by far the winner in my book as far as “designing with meaning” and I love that you included the inspiration pic. What a neat story.
I’ll be trying out your awesome tutorials once we round this thing out in two weeks (and you’re right – the working full time thing is making this a bear so I might need a week to catch up on sleep). Hope that baby gets to feeling better soon!!
You did a great job this week! Loved the meaning and the dress! So cute! I loed how the apron buttoned on the front like that! I’m so glad you were in the competition and that we got to meet! It has been fun and it’s been great to challenge ourselves in ways we otherwise wouldn’t have, but you’re right, it does take a lot of time. I’m so sorry you baby girl is sick and good luck staying ahead of the sickness, hopefully.
I really loved your dress, it was so cute. Would love a tutorial!
