My first feature!
And
I’m beginning to see a trend to what I’m working on… It’s fall! I love fall in Michigan, though today is a bit dreary. All the better to stay inside and create cute things and post about them!  Â
I’ve been making these pinafore tops all summer. With the onset of fall and all things associated, I thought the shape of the top was a bit triangular and would be really cute done as a candy corn. I measured the length of the front of my pattern and divided by three, added an extra 1/2″ for seam allowance, and cut and sewed them together like piecing a quilt. Then I proceeded as usual to make the pinafore top, using a cute candy corn print for the reverse side.   Â
Before I sewed the front to the back, I added a blanket or Parisian stitch to the yellow and orange sections to make it look applique’d, and sewed on one of my new Jennuine Design labels, since I think this might be a sample for the Etsy shop I’m planning to open soon.  Â
Pardon the rumpled appearance of the finished product. My daughter had been wearing it all morning until I borrowed it during her nap to snap some quick photos. Plus she’s teething, so therefore a drooling maniac and the top is a bit damp.  Â
Super cute and super quick!

This is an adorable holiday attire idea. I love that it is so different from the traditional applique idea. I so wish I had a special little girl to make one for.

Thanks! I linked up and grabbed your button.
That is just precious! I’ve been thinking about turning my little girl into some sort of candy corn ballerina outfit for Halloween (seems like the easiest thing to do) and this top has given me more ideas!
What a cute idea! Thanks for sharing!

Cool! There are plenty of pinafore patterns on Etsy, that’s where I got mine. I peeked at your page and saw you’re planning a quilt out of baby clothes. I’ve got one planned too, using a technique for t-shirt quilts where you don’t have to use any sashing – just the knits sewn together. I can describe it better if you’re interested, or I might try to do a tutorial when I get to it.
So totally cute!!!
This is adorable. I LOVE the stitching… it adds a really nice touch.
This is DARLING! I so want to make one for my daughter now.
(I am popping in from tatertots and jello)
Thanks for the comment! I popped over to your blog, and it looks like we started up right about the same time! It’s been fun, though I have to say seeing everthing everyone else is up to has a tendency to make me feel like an unimaganative slug at times!
So festive and I know what you mean about Michigan Fall. I love it now too! Thanks for linking to Craftastic Monday:)
Hey I had to make sure you knew! Someday Crafts is having a candy corn party this Friday! You should TOTALLY enter this 🙂

Thanks! Will do. I popped over to your blog and see that our little girls have the same crib bedding. Check out the pics in my post Arden’s Nursery Peg Rail.
Love the labels – they look fab! Thanks for your comment today 🙂 I can’t clean with the baby latched on either…..but one day…you never know….it could be quite an asset to figure that out.
