A Preview, a Teaser, and Follow-up Pics

I whipped up a skirt to turn the second of the clearance t-shirts I purchased recently into an outfit.  This is the first cut into the Riley Blake fabrics I bought to be part of the decor at Arden’s rainbow birthday party.  I couldn’t get her to wear it for pictures today, so we’ll see how she does tomorrow.  Sometimes she won’t change after we’ve gotten dressed for the day.  Not even for rainbow twirly goodness!

Arden is beginning to allow skirts as an acceptable wardrobe filler about once a week, so I strayed from the dress restriction of late and made a simple peasant style skirt with easy exposed serged edges.  I busted out my new-ish ruffler foot and after a few missteps (and three broken needles – argh!) I figured it out and we cha-chunk-a-chunked merrily along.

To make it more of an outfit but still wearable with other bottoms, I made a yo-yo out of the rainbow dots and Arden chose an orange button for the center.  I seem to have gotten onto a bit of a yo-yo kick – seen previously at Arden’s Pink! third birthday party, and as part of my recent March Package Pals offering.  I think I have an affinity because remember my paternal Grandmother made lots of them when I was younger.

The Teaser is that I won a REALLY BIG PRIZE!!!  But, I’m not sure when I can let the cat out of the bag, so you’ll just have to wait in baited anticipation until I can reveal what it is.  I’ll hint a bit and say that it will be keeping me busy and a little outside of my comfort zone for a while.

And some follow up pics to prove that I wasn’t full of it when I said that my girls love my Bold & Spicy Vegetarian Chili.  There they are happily spooning away!  Hadley a little bit messier than Arden, but they both shoveled it all in.  And again the next day, and tonight as well.  I think there’s enough left from the double batch for one more serving for Dave and I each, after a work week of lunches or dinners.

Really cute! And I don’t remember if we set a date for the Heirloomy Project, but I’ve finally thought of what I am going to do, so I’m definitely in! 🙂 Thanks!
